On Thursday 3rd November between 10am and 3pm at Powderham Castle in Exeter, there is a Michaelmas Fair in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
This is a chance to do some early Christmas shopping with many gifts you won’t find on the High Street, as well as supporting a great cause at the same time.
Tickets cost £3 in advance or £5 on the door, and are available from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity by telephoning 01392 496412 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Blackawton Family Bonfire Night takes place on the 5th November, with the night beginning at 6.30pm in The George Inn car park. Refreshments will be available in preparation for Lighting of the Barrel which is then carried by four honourable village men who will lead the procession followed by Blackawton Morris Dancers to the field, where food and beverages will also be available.
The bonfire will then be lit followed by a firework display.
There is no admission charge but donations are welcome.

Join everyone at Hannahs At Seale-hayne in Newton Abbot for a magical evening of family-friendly stories and music around the bonfire, with hot chocolate to drink and marshmallows to toast.
Meet under the Main Arch at 6pm, and in the event of wet weather, the event will be moved indoors.
Tickets cost £5 adults and £3 children, and as numbers are limited, booking is essential.

Between 10am and 5pm on the 12th November, Plymouth Guildhall in Plymouth will be hosting a Christmas Show.
Take your friends and family along to explore their Christmas Market, pop along to the Santa’s Grotto and visit the main man as he makes an early visit from the North Pole, and even feast on a mince pie.
You’ll find everything you need to make this year’s holiday season festive; Christmas crafts, holiday gifts, seasonal fashions & decor, entertaining tips and a whole lot more!
Tickets are not required as entry is free, but there will be a small charge for the grotto, with all money raised from that being donated to St Luke’s Hospice.

In Newton Abbot there will be a Remembrance Service, starting with a Procession through the town centre at 10am, followed by a service held at the War Memorial, in partnership with the Newton Abbot Royal British Legion branch.
Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th November
The 307 Squadron Project invites you to Exeter’s Guildhall, from the 14th November 2016, to remember the Polish 307 Squadron that defended the South West of England during the Second World War.
307 Squadron, part of the RAF, were night-fighters who fought the Luftwaffe over the skies of Britain and prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.
The exhibition is open between 10am and 4pm each day, and on Tuesday 15 November, ‘307 Squadron Day’, at 10:00 the Polish flag will be raised over the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor of Exeter.
This event has been organised by 307 Squadron Project in conjunction with Exeter City Council and is free to visit.

For the first time ever, the Edwardian Quad at Hannahs At Seale-hayne is being transformed into a Winter Wonderland, with a 15m x 20m skating rink, a giant 50-foot snowman (with a bouncy castle in his stomach), pop-up gift and food stalls, musical Christmas light shows and even regular snow showers. Expect a real Christmas atmosphere with music, stalls and hot chocolate, mulled wine and sweet treats available.
There will be special events throughout, including Themed Thursdays, Disco Skate Saturdays, Film and Skate Sundays, the School’s Out Christmas Party and our Skate and Chips evening. Make a visit to the Totnes Civic Hall on the 19th November between 10am and 4pm for a Christmas Market.
There will be over 30 stalls with a wide selection of crafts and gifts, from stocking fillers to that special unique gift.

There’s an All Things Vintage & Festive Show at The Guildhall in Plymouth on the 19th November.
The event will feature over 60 Vintage & Artisan exhibitors including lots of unique, quirky Christmas ideas. There will also be Christmas carols, cookery workshops, a festive tearoom and lots more.
The event runs between 10:30am and 4:30pm. Entry is £2.00 per person, with under 12’s going free.

If you think that the romance and mystery of Christmas has been replaced with gaudy commercialism, then Dartmouth has got an answer for you.
Set alongside the river Dart and surrounded by steep wooded hills, the Elizabethan streets of Dartmouth come alive with the glow of Christmas each year as a fantastic procession of candlelight lanterns carried by the town’s children create a marvellous seasonal atmosphere that attracts revellers from all over Britain, and this year, they are celebrating their 10th anniversary.
On the Friday from 4pm, there will be a Christmas market, entertainers and musicians, carol singing with the BRNC Volunteer Band and the Britannia Choral Society, official switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights, Santa arrives by boat, and Christmas shopping.
On the Saturday from 10am, there will be Christmas markets, entertainers and musicians, “Candlelit Kids” ( featuring seasonal craft workshops, puppet show, Santa’s grotto and more) in the Flavel , a lantern procession, and Christmas shopping.

Step back in time at the Victorian Festive Show at Dartington Hall in Totnes on the 26th and 27th of November.
Featuring over 50 Vintage, gift & food exhibitors, as well as entertainment with Victorian carol singers, Spectrum Wind Choir and much more. There will also be Lace making demos, workshops, a Victorian photobooth, children’s activity room and lots more!
The event runs from 10:30am until 4pm, and entry is £3 per person, with under 12’s going free, (although there will be an additional £2 charge if wishing to access the children’s activity room).
